Blow The Heart Wide Open
'And I came back and it was great, 'cuz George had set up all these flowers all over the studio saying welcome home. So then we got it together again. I always felt it was better on the White one for me. We were more like a band, you know' - Ringo Starr
Many of the images below are available as prints or posters at allposters.com. It's a good place to start your collection of Beatles posters or prints. Anything obscure and for the completist then you have to look elsewhere but for the popular prints then it doesn't come better than here. There is alot to collect bearing in mind that the Beatles have been the biggest band in terms of worldwide popularity for fifty years or so. Still even for a popular band some titles go in and out of print seemingly overnight like the MerseyBeat posters so if you find something you like it's best to get it there and then rather than wait. Unless it's the truly iconic images (I'm talking about Abbey Road Crossing or Help! or indeed a seemingly endless list of iconic images!) in which case they will be out there forever. Well, you would think so.

01.01.12 - Ad: A Hard Day's Write
A lavishly illustrated, rollicking account of the real people and events that inspired the Beatles' lyrics (pic. above right).
Who was "just seventeen" and made Paul's heart go "boom"? Was there really an Eleanor Rigby? Where's Penny Lane (ok, forget that one as I'e got a feeling most people know that)? In A Hard Day's Write, music journalist Steve Turner shatters many well-worn myths and adds a new dimension to the Fab Four's rich legacy by investigating for the first time the ordinary people and events immortalized in the Beatles' music and now occupying a special niche in popular culture's collective imagination.
Arranged chronologically by album, the book breaks new ground by exploring how private incidents influenced the group's writing and how their music evolved. Turner reveals that Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was really a drawing by Julian Lennon of his childhood friend; Bungalow Bill was an all-American tiger hunter; Doctor Robert was a New York 'speech doctor'; and much more. A longtime Beatles admirer, Turner tracked down and interviewed the real-life subjects of the songs, probed public records and newspaper archives, and spoke in depth to the people closet to the Beatles to unearth tales that have never before been made public. The result is a book that chronicles an untold story of the Beatles themselves.
Illustrated with over 200 photographs, A Hard Day's Write is a visually alluring and highly entertaining journey to the land stretching just beneath your conscious mind, mapped out with strawberry fields, fool-topped hills, and long and winding roads.
