  • SIQUEIROS, David Alfaro
    1914-55

    Painter

  • David Alfaro Siquieros was a Mexican painter imprisoned and exiled many times during his violent career as a political revolutionary in Mexico and Spain. His art stems from Rivera, whom he met in Paris in 1919, and Orozco, with whom he worked on projects for huge mural paintings expressing political ideas in a strained yet realist style, and he was also affected by the darker aspects of Surrealism, Mexican folk art and ethnography/ In 1935 he had a public controversy with Rivera over the nature of revolutionary art.

His best work is in Mexico: his Human Life is said to be the largest mural in the world.
