Dungeness
STRANGELAND (AUGUST 2012):
I first came to Dungeness, Kent, in the mid-1990s to see Derek Jarman's Prospect Cottage and was struck by the landscape's otherwordliness, its ethereal nothingness. It is desolate, a lonely place, a cluster of cottages dwarfed by the monolithic power station and facing the vastness of the Engish Channel. It is as close to the dark side of the moon as you can get on Earth, I guess. But its desolation is what appeals, anything that can flourish here can only be inspiring.
Photographs taken: August 2012, summer. Dungeness in winter must be a sight to behold!
