Emily Carr was the most famous Canadian artist. She was influenced by the Group of Seven and also by motives taken from West Coast Indian folk-art. In France in 1910/11 she probaly met her New Zealand contemporary, Frances Hodgkins. Her autobiography was published posthumously (1946).
