Alfred Hitchcock's last silent film is a brooding melodrama concerning a love triangle that ends in tragedy. Anny Ondra, an early Hitchcock blonde who went on to star in Blackmail but proved inadequate for the talkies (she had to be dubbed for that film), is Kate Cregeen, loved by two men who are best friends fisherman Carl Brisson and lawyer Malcolm Keen. She loves Brisson but when her father forbids marriage, he leaves the island and Keen steps in.

Unfamiliar territory for present-day Hitchcock fans this is competently done and atmospheric, but too old-fashioned to be of more than limited interest.
