Kate's unconventional look has undoubtedly attributed to her success and she has modelled for practically every major fashion house in the world.
Despite featuring in a few TV programmes (most notably a stint on French and Saunders), Kate is a rare thing indeed - a model who has not really tried to break into acting, although she probably doesn't need the money as she is estimated to be worth £26.8 million.
She has dated a string of celebrities including an engagement to Johnny Depp and a brief relationship with Billy Zane of Titanic fame.
In 2002 Kate gave birth to her first child, Lila Grace.
Kate Moss
said sorry for
her drug-taking last
night — and vowed to
beat her addiction.
The supermodel broke
her silence a week after
pictures of her snorting
cocaine were published.
And in the apology
she hinted she had taken the
first steps to get off the drug.
Kate, 31. said in a statement: "I take full responsibility for my actions. I also
accept that there are various personal issues that I need to
address and have started taking the difficult, yet necessary,
steps to resolve them.
"I want to apologise to all of the people I have let down
because of my behaviour, which has reflected badly on
my family, friends, co-workers, business associates
and others.
"I am trying to be positive,
and the support and love I
have received are invaluable."
Kate's career has been in
freefall since she was revealed
as a £200-a-day cocaine user.
The British biggest selling daily newspaper, The Sun, also exclusively
revealed yesterday that she dabbles with deadly crack cocaine.
Cops say they want to speak to her when she returns to the
UK. Met Police chief Sir lan
Blair personally ordered an
investigation after the cocaine
pictures were published.
Sir lan said the decision on
whether or not to charge Kate
would take into account her
effect on young people.
Yesterday Kate received
another blow when cosmetics
giant Rimmel prepared to
dump her. They would be the FIFTH company to wash their
hands of her. The firm said in
a statement: "Rimmel London
is shocked and dismayed by
the recent press allegations
surrounding Kate Moss's behaviour. We are currently
reviewing her contract."
One source close to Kate
said: "This is a desperate
attempt to salvage some of her
career."
But her best pal, actress-turned-designer Sadie Frost,
40, insisted yesterday: "She'll
bounce back.
"People should remember
what she's done for the British
fashion industry.
"Kate may have been having
some personal problems but
I'm certain she will bounce
back from this."
Kate's nightmare week
began last Thursday when she
was pictured snorting five
lines of cocaine in 40 minutes.
Then it was revealed she had
three-in-a-bed lesbian orgies.
On Tuesday, high street
store H&M ended her contract.
On Wednesday, designer labels
Burberry, Chanel and Gloria
Vanderbilt followed suit.
The same day Scotland Yard
confirmed its probe.
The Sun also revealed Kate
could even be charged with
supplying a Class A drug
because the photos show her
handing out cocaine to boyfriend Pete Doherty, 26, and
his band Babyshambles.
If she is arrested she could
be barred from entering the
US - which could be the final
nail in the coffin of her career.
Anyone with a criminal
record or who has been
arrested and is facing legal
proceedings must declare it
upon entry. A decision is then
made whether to admit them.
'I take full responsibility for my actions. I also accept that there are various
personal issues that I need to address and
have started taking the difficult, yet
necessary, steps to resolve them. I want
to apologise to all of the people I have let
down because of my behaviour which has
reflected badly on my family, friends, co-workers, business associates and others. I
am trying to be positive, and the support
and love I have received are invaluable.'
