      Paul Huxley is an enormously influential figure in modern British art. He was a member of the advisory panels for the Arts Council of Great Britain and the Serpentine Gallery.

      His work is in around 30 major public collections around the world including the Tate Gallery, London and Fitzwilliam, Cambridge.

      • 1959: Participates in group exhibition, Young Contemporaries, London

      • 1963: Solo exhibition at the Rowan Gallery, London

      • 1964: Participates in group exhibition, The New Generation, Whitechapel Art Gallery, London

        Wins first prize in the Stuyvesant Travel Awards. Travels to the US

      • 1965: A prize winner at the Paris Biennale. Wins a Harkness Fellowship. Lives in New York

      • 1975-82: A Trustee of the Tate Gallery

      • 1976: Begins teaching at the Royal College of Art

      • 1977: Wins the Linbury Trust Award

      • 1983: Wins first prize in the Eastern Arts Exhibition

      • 1984: Commission for 22 ceramic mural designs for Kings Cross Station

      • 1986-98: Professor of Painting at the Royal College of Art

      • 1987: Elected ARA

      • 1991: Elected RA. Sets and costumes for the Rambert Dance Company

        Solo exhibition at Galerie zur alten deutschen Schule, Thun, Switzerland

      • 1992: Solo exhibition at Gillian Jason Gallery, London

      • 1993: Participates in group exhibition at the Barbican, London

      • 1994: Solo exhibition at Gardner Art Centre, Sussex University

      • 1995: National Art Collections award for Outstanding Serice to the Arts

      • 1997: Participates in group exhibition at the Gulbenkian Centre for Modern Art, Lisbon

      • 1998: Made Professor Emeritus. Solo exhibition at Jason & Rhodes Gallery, London

      • 1999: Participates in group exhibitions at the Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge and Leicester City Art Gallery

        Solo exhibition at the New Art Centre, Roche Court, Salisbury

      • 2000: Becomes Treasurer of the Royal Academy

      • 2001: Wall drawing for the entrance and stairway of Pallant House Gallery, Chichester

        Solo exhibitions at Rhodes + Mann, London and Pallant House Gallery, Chichester
