Random photos of South Norwood, South London, SE25. South Norwood, tucked between the grey metropolis that is Croydon and the splendours of Crystal Palace, seems to be a place the world has forgotten about or at the very least ignored. If there is a perception of it from outside then it's not a great one. Yes, it is run down in places and at the very least a lick of paint would not go amiss on many of its public buildings. But then that could be said of most of Croydon apart from the proud South.

You can still find marvellous examples of it's heyday a 100years+ ago. Victorialand or Edwardianland can still be found in many of the buidings though many have seen better days (but then who hasn't?). It was fashionable enough for the Sherlock Holmes creator, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to have lived here between 1891 and 1894. His house at 12 Tennison Road has a blue plaque and I have photographed it here. Amazing to think that the great man breathed the same air and was in the same space as where I stood taking the photo though, of course, South Norwood was then a very quiet, semi-rural area.

I have also photographed the High Street and nearby Selhurst Park, home of Crystal Palace Football Club. Oh, and my brother's new business venture, No. 10 Coffee Shop, on the high street.

I'd be grateful if the photos are not used without prior permission. Please e-mail any request for usage or to obtain any photo without the copyright wording.
