This was the brainchild of the artist Russell Mills. Arter disputes over payment with the original label, em:T, Mills re-released it with the title Strange Familiar in 2000 through Bella Union in the UK, the label of ex-Cocteau Twins Robin Guthrie and Simon Raymonde.

Instinct released it in the USA under its original title Undark One: Strange Familiar.

Interestingly, Michael Brook, who developed the infinite guitar, also contributes to the album.
