PRODUCT DESCRIPTION (BACK COVER)

Rod Steiger plays Carl Schaffner, a crooked American businessman who flees to Mexico after stealing company funds. While travelling by train, Schaffner decides to evade authorities by murdering a fellow passenger and assuming his identity. The plan seems fool proof until he is forced to care for the dead man's dog. An ironic twist and his love for the dog seals his final destiny.

Based on a novel by Graham Greene.

I would love to make this page different to the countless Dvd pages on Across The Bridge that are out there in the cut and paste world that is the web. It would be great if we could give this film the attention it deserves. The further we get away from it the more people forget this movie. The same could be said of Rod Steiger which is a real shame as there are very few down the years who had such a magnetic charisma as he possessed on the big screen. He could fill it to such an extent that he banished many a co-star to the edges of the screen.
