(Or scroll down for images and details. Lenin is a participant in the eBay (EPN) affiliate program) David Bowie Diamond Dogs cassettes are one of the most collectable titles of Bowie cassettes. Remember, vintage Bowie cassettes from the 1970s are generally worth more than later releases; also remember that they are also more fragile than later releases & have to be thoroughly play tested. Be so careful when you first play them as chances are they haven't been played since the 1970s/80s. Rewind/fast forward a couple of times before thinking of playing them.
All titles on these pages are official releases released in UK & Europe unless stated. Low resolution scans below. The actual item is a 100 times better.

Originally released in 1974, Diamond Dogs remains one of David Bowie’s most theatrical and conceptually unstable albums, created during a period of major artistic transition following the collapse of the Ziggy Stardust era. The record combines glam rock intensity with dystopian imagery, fragmented narrative ideas, and a darker production style that distances it from the brighter theatricality of Bowie’s earlier work. The album’s sound is driven by aggressive guitar textures, layered studio production, and abrupt tonal shifts that reinforce its atmosphere of urban decay and psychological instability. Bowie’s songwriting throughout the record moves between character-driven storytelling and broader apocalyptic imagery, influenced in part by material connected to his abandoned adaptation of 1984 by George Orwell. Diamond Dogs occupies a distinctive position within Bowie’s catalogue because it bridges multiple creative directions at once. Elements of glam rock spectacle remain intact, yet the album also points toward the more rhythm-oriented and soul-influenced sound that would emerge in his subsequent recordings. This tension between endings and new beginnings gives the album much of its enduring energy. This 1981 UK cassette reissue, identified by black on-body text and green logo design, reflects the standardisation of cassette manufacturing during the early 1980s as major catalogue titles were reformatted for sustained tape distribution. The edition preserves the album’s dense and theatrical sequencing within the growing culture of portable cassette listening that defined the period.
