It was the Serious Moonlight era when Bowie, the biggest cult ever, passed over into the popular mainstream. Not an entirely comfortable fit and it would really take a decade or so, around 1.Outside for Bowie to return to the creative zenith he had enjoyed up until Scary Monsters. Still, Bowie looks great in these photos centering around the world tour.
