20.01.12: painting details

This painting was first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 2007 and subsequently presented to the Tate.

It took six weeks to complete. Each individual canvas was painted in the open air as had been the habit of Claude Monet and the Impressionists a hundred years or so earlier.

His assistant photographed each stage and this allowed him via computer to see the overall picture.

This was done just before the arrival of Spring.
