Because the Weston cards have been oversubscribed a 100 times over it has become increasingly hard to keep this page up to date. Limited new supplies have just come so I'll offer them on a first come first served basis.

I would ask you to use the e-mail link by each item first to reserve any item from this page. That way I can advise you when cards are temporarily out of stock. When e-mailing please specify country you are ordering from so I can work out the postage costs to that region and price in your currency. I will also give you payment options incl. paypal, cheque etc.

Postage is just charged for what it costs me. So for the postcards it would be 50p UK postage (Europe: 80p; US & Rest of World: £1.20) and 3 can be sent for the price of one.

Few photographers created a legacy as diverse as that of the American EDWARD WESTON (1886-1958). At the outset of his career, Weston worked successfully with painterly soft-focus techniques, but a decade later became the pioneer of a precise, sharp style of presentation dubbed "Straight Photography". The complete transition from soft-focus to straight is best illustrated by Weston's photographs of the Armco Steelworks in Middletown, Ohio, taken in 1922. Weston's focus on precise representation was intensified through his meeting the photographers Alfred Stieglitz, Charles Sheeler and Paul Strand in New York that same year. However, it is his close-ups, with their almost tangible quality, that reveal Weston's unique talent and virtuosity: his extraordinary feeling for surfaces and his ability to capture on photographic paper an astounding wealth of nuances, in subtle gradations between black and white.
Through the 1920s, 30s and 40s, Weston played a key role in the development of the art of photography. He fought for recognition of photography's place among the fine arts. His work also led to a number of radical advances in cameras, lenses and printmaking. "Presentation not interpretation" is one of Weston's much-quoted maxims. Presentation meant, for him, showing a thing as it is, for its own sake. His photographs present compelling monuments to sensual realism, perfectly composed, still images, burning with passion and intensity. Whatever the subject, be it a plant, a landscape, a shell or the naked body, Weston's lens always managed to capture the essence of its vital force, the fundamentals of its form.

Edward Weston (1886–1958) is one of the seminal figures of twentieth-century photography. An exponent of ‘straight photography’, Weston was committed to making photographs ‘free from technical tricks and incoherent emotionalism’ which were able to capture the essence of the subject. His series of self-portraits, nudes, landscapes and close-up still-lifes defined modernist photography in their formal elegance, simplicity and abstraction. The first photographer to win a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1937, Weston is among the most influential figures in the history of photography.
