1989 was an important year in the discography of David Sylvian. With the release of his major and quite brilliant retrospective ‘Weatherbox’ 5-CD box set, Virgin issued a range of connected material to coincide with it: the Weatherbox promo video, a promotional CD, the reissued Steel Cathedrals VHS – and this single, Pop Song.
“Pop Song forms part of a distinctive cluster of late-80s Sylvian releases,
each presented with thoughtful packaging and a strong sense of design.”
This CD single contains three tracks: Pop Song, A Brief Conversation Ending in Divorce, and The Stigma of Childhood. The disc sits inside its picture sleeve, which slides neatly into a card compartment, all enclosed within an outer slipcase featuring selected discography. The layered packaging reflects Sylvian's visual and musical aesthetic during this period, combining minimal design with carefully curated presentation.
Overall condition is noted as Good, with light handling wear consistent with age. All components – disc, inner sleeve, slide-out card holder, and slipcase – remain intact, making this a desirable item for collectors and fans interested in Sylvian’s late-1980s artistic phase.
