Great condition (see scans below). Sorry about the glare from the lights on the scans; will get more up in due course. Frame itself is coming away top left from the sheer weight of the piece so would need looking at. But a minor problem.

This will shortly be put onto eBay. Not really looking to sell but with a bereavement which has changed everything then if someone requests my bank transfer details then of course I would sell.
This is one of Russell Mills's most celebrated of illustrations. Entitled Echo it was used for the cover of the book: A Samuel Beckett Reader, published in the UK in 1983 by Picador, London. It was one of a series of 5 covers Mills created for Samuel Beckett books.
Signed & dated by Russell Mills, it is oil on some kind of hard sheet (the whole thing is quite heavy) which has been set on board and framed by the artist himself. Looks absolutely gorgeous, and really has to be seen to be believed.
Overall it is sized 26" by 20" inches approx. Mills's contact details are on the reverse.
Rare chance to own one of the most important of Russell Mills' works. Moreover, because the subject matter is of one of the greatest writers ever, an icon in 20th-century literature, Beckett admirers will be fascinated by the haunting quality of it. The face, the face of despair, of sorrow and of the ridiculous.
One of Russell Mills's most celebrated illustrations - a rare opportunity to own an original work.
Mills briefly talks about this work when mentioning his 'zones' exhibits which are his works on Samuel Beckett.
