Full name: Stéphanie Marie Elisabeth Grimaldi
Born: 1 February 1965, Monte-Carlo, Monaco
Occupation: Princess of Monaco; singer; former model; humanitarian

Background

Princess Stéphanie is the youngest child of Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace of Monaco. She grew up in a highly public royal household but spent much of her early life away from formal duties. In 1982 she survived the car accident that killed her mother, an event that brought intense media attention and shaped much of her young adulthood.

Career and Public Life

Stéphanie built a varied and often unconventional career outside traditional royal expectations. In the 1980s and early 1990s she worked as a model, collaborating with several major fashion houses and appearing on international magazine covers. She also pursued music, achieving European chart success with the single “Ouragan” (1986) and releasing two albums.

Her professional interests later shifted toward design and charitable work. She created swimwear and fashion lines in the 1990s and became increasingly involved in social causes, focusing particularly on HIV/AIDS awareness. In 2004 she founded Fight AIDS Monaco, which continues to operate community programmes, prevention campaigns and support services across the region.

Role in Monaco

Although not active in day-to-day state functions, Princess Stéphanie performs selected public engagements on behalf of the principality, especially those connected to health, social services and cultural events. She is also involved in the organisation of the annual Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival, an event long associated with the Grimaldi family.

Personal Life

Stéphanie has three children and has maintained a relatively private family life compared with earlier decades in the public eye. Her relationships and marriages attracted significant media coverage in the past, but she has deliberately reduced her profile in recent years, concentrating on humanitarian work and projects based in Monaco and the surrounding region.

Today

Princess Stéphanie remains an active figure in Monaco’s charitable sector, especially in initiatives addressing public health and social welfare. Her career reflects a long-standing preference for personal independence and practical engagement over ceremonial royal roles.
