David Bowie - Let's Dance Cassette. I think this is Bowie's biggest selling cassette of all time. Phil Collins territory. This was released in the UK as a clear cassette with grey text (like this one) as well as a grey cassette with red text (here) That's just the 2 UK releases I know of - I'm sure there are more. PLAY TESTED, I repeat PLAY TESTED. It's kind of important with cassettes. I don't know about the Cat People version. Far more aggressive than the film version. That's a work of art but that may be just me.

Released in 1983, Let's Dance marked one of the most commercially successful and widely recognised periods of David Bowie’s career. The album represented a decisive shift toward a more polished, dance-oriented sound, combining Bowie’s art-rock background with streamlined production designed for mainstream international audiences during the early 1980s. Produced by Nile Rodgers, the record blends funk, dance, and pop influences with tightly structured arrangements and highly refined studio production. Tracks such as Let's Dance, China Girl, and Modern Love became defining recordings of the decade, helping establish Bowie as one of the dominant crossover artists of the MTV era. The album also introduced a cleaner and more commercially direct presentation compared to Bowie’s more experimental late-1970s work. While highly accessible, the recordings retained elements of Bowie’s theatrical vocal style and visual identity, contributing to the album’s lasting cultural visibility. This UK clear cassette edition reflects the rapid growth of prerecorded cassette formats during the early 1980s, when cassette albums became a mainstream alternative to vinyl for home and portable listening. Variations in shell design, print style, and manufacturing details remain of particular interest to format collectors. For collectors, UK cassette variants of Let's Dance capture the commercial peak of Bowie’s early-1980s catalogue while preserving the physical presentation associated with one of the era’s most recognisable album releases.
