David Sylvian - Manafon CD, Album, Digipak (UK & US) 2009

David Sylvian's album Manafon was released on September 14, 2009, in a digipak CD format. This edition features exquisite artwork by Ruud Van Empel and was designed by Chris Bigg. The digipak includes a six-panel layout with a credit sheet folded inside. Beautiful to look at but the opposite of practical; you have to be very careful opening it out without damaging it.

The album is a blend of avant-garde, free improvisation, experimental rock, and chamber music. It was recorded over a three-year period in Vienna, Tokyo, and London, with Sylvian collaborating with renowned musicians like Christian Fennesz, Evan Parker, and John Tilbury. The album's title is inspired by the Welsh poet R.S. Thomas and refers to a village in Wales where Thomas lived. The lyrics often reflect themes from Thomas's poetry, adding a layer of literary depth to the music
