All images Estate of Elisabeth Frink/Various
Double signed. The standard c
loth-bound edition signed and dedicated by Elisabeth Frink on the inner page and also signed by the artist on the Catalogue Raisonne page.
The power of her work is astonishing. I rate her as the Mike Tyson of sculpting; a super-heavyweight no-one else can reach. The Flying Men are strength, strength, strength. And yet, in other works, the horses and the dogs, there is such tender beauty you find it hard to think it's the same artist.
Elisabeth Frink: Sculpture is at once a catalogue raissonne and a celebration of the work of this most popular English artist. For the first time, it documents and illustrates all her sculptures
from student works in the late 1940 to the early 1980. Major works in their settings - the country, towns or interiors - are explored in more detail in the 64 pages of colour photographs, taken specially for the book by Jorge Lewinski and selected by the artist herself.
Accompanying the series of illustrations is a series of reflections on Elisabeth Frink and her art.
