William Golding
This has been PLAY TESTED. Always important to test a cassette as if not you don't know if there are any playback problems. Especially one like this, played so much when it was originally bought, then discarded & stored badly when CDs took off. The older the cassette - the more the problems. At least that's what I've found.

William Golding is considered by many to be the greatest English novelist of the last fifty years. He wrote eleven novels, the best-known being The Lord of the Flies, The Spire and Rites of Passage, which won the 1980 Booker Prize. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1983, and was knighted in 1988. He died in 1993.
Tim Piggott-Smith has worked widely in theatre, but is perhaps best known for his appearances on television, including The Jewel in the Crown.
The compelling story about a group of very ordinary small boys marooned on a coral island. At first it seems as though it is all going to be great fun; but the fun before long becomes furious and life on the island turns into a nightmare of panic and death. As ordinary standards of behaviour collapse, the whole world the boys know collapses with them - the world of cricket, homework and adventure stories - and another world is revealed beneath, primitive and terrible.
