This is a film to this day you either love or hate. You either find the stagey one-apartment movie compelling or you find it claustraphobically (is that even a word?) boring. Whatever, it's as if Hitch was perfecting the enclosed setting for his masterpiece of the same year, Rear Window. And I do wish that somewhere in Maida Vale this place exists and the ghosts of Kelly, Milland and Cummings float about. A bit like Blithe Spirit, I guess.
