Joseph Farquharson
Back in stock.
Below are a selection of Joseph Farquharson truly stunning modern canvas prints in stock. They are sent rolled in a hard tube to avoid damage. Unstretched.
Joseph Farquharson, (1846-1935), during his long life, painted scenes that perfectly blended wildlife with scenery. What I mean is that the animals belonged to the earth they roamed in as the realism in his work has seldom been surpassed. Far from it for me to say, and it's just my personal opinion, but I find his prints to work best when they are housed in old Victorian rooms. Once framed they look absolutely exquisite in such an environment. A room in a house in a big city - outside the world is rushing by, eveything or everyone is on the move - these pieces are like counterpoints of serenity, of stillness, to the frenetic scenes outside the window.
Farquharson's prints reminds me of that beautiful Channel 4 progtamme, Great Canal Journeys with Prunella Scales and her husband of 50 years or so, Timothy West. They journey slowly to places that echo of a less frenetic time where the past is beautiful and nostalgia is just an exquisite thing.
Delightful.
