Velimir Chlebnikov (1885 – 1922) was a poet, regarded as one of the founders of Russian Futurism who developed a system of ‘poetic irregularities’ intended to return to the non-rational and primitive in language. Anselm Kiefer’s series of thirty large paintings named after, and based around, Chlebnikov finds connections to early, broad and deep themes of myth, spiritualism, mysticism, and the relationship of man to the cosmos

His work often addresses the imagery of Germany’s Nazi past, the elemental and the architectural, and the tragicomic, through a deft use of symbolism, a subdued palette and a build-up of collaged, even sculptural material. In these paintings, which blend the expressive and the literal, lead ships, handwriting, pieces of string, stone and metal, are attached to canvases of cracked and peeling paint, evoking the tumultuous seas. Further info: This is a poster reproduced in the 1980s. They were used in the 1980s in the uk to promote the new release on high streets, empty shops etc. I certainly remember seeing these posters flyposted in city centres. Not the greatest quality poster but that was how they were made way back then. They were made for mass reproduction 30 years ago. I haven't seen many of them about and is sold with a full money back guarantee. Should you be in any way disatisfied with it just return it and I will refund you in full.. In some cases they do smell a little musty as they have been stored away for years.
