Kula Shaker CDs/Vinyl/Cassettes Kula Shaker are the Black Cat of the CD World... Give a CD a Home Search Site Today the CD is middle aged and discarded unfairly when up against rival formats. The vinyl is your grandfather who everyone realises now is groovy and your download is your noisy teenager - irritates the hell out of you but won't go away.
Few love the CD. It gets tossed away, abandoned, sold for pennies on the market that is Magpie or worse still orphaned off to Charity shops. Years of neglect have taken their toll as it shys away from other formats who strut about thinking they're Persian Cats when in fact they're moggies - cute as any pedigree but certainly not Top Cat. Yet it doesn't have to be this way. Here are reasons why you should consider giving a CD a home:
1) They can fit into big pockets. Now in the cat world and adopting, the black cat is the hardest to rehome according to the RSPCA. All other cats are far easier to find new homes. The persians are proud and know their worth (Rolling Stones); the siamese cats revel in their mystery and splendour (Pink Floyd); the gingers pop up almost in every home as they're cute in an easy listening sort of way (Mick Hucknall & Simply Red); even the tuxedos have their moments when they want affection and are the biggest cult in the cat world in that so many people have them yet they haven't been nice for years outside of feeding time (two tone, Madness and Ska - when did any of them last have a hit?) but the black cat - no-one wants to know.
They have fallen out of fashion. The Kula Shaker CD is the black cat of the music world and yet it has as much if not move to give. The music is as cocky in its sheer brilliance as the Rolling Stones; fused with Indian mysticism it's as hypnotically spiritual as anything by Pink Floyd; the imagery of their CD artwork has taken the artwork and the CD to the summit of K2 in a way that leaves Mick Hucknall bellowing out Holding Back the Years unheard and alone, stuck in Base Camp; where they are the only band to ever get Sanskrit into the UK top ten with the sublime and catchy Govinda the tuxedos are still chanting Baggy Trousers & moving One Step Beyond-wise. Night Boat to Cairo? Well get on it why don't you?
Shocking. Can you give a Kula Shaker CD a home? It will only cost tens of pennies and there's no cost in feeding involved. You won't regret it and even if you're unsure I'm sure you'll grow to love it given time. Let's make the black cat the easiest CD to rehome and find each and every one of them a forever home. Together we can do it. We can get Kula Shaker to the top of the charts again. The black cat can thrive.
