SALVADOR DALI

• Dali completed Nature Morte Vivante (Still Life-Fast Moving) in 1956. It is one of many pieces on large canvasses Dali completed between 1949 and 1970 in which the subject matter is of scientific discovery, mathematical order, religious meaning and Spanish culture.

  'Something' has disturbed the beautifully sharp elements on the table: perhaps an atomic bomb but whatever it is they have been arranged within a mathemical grid based on the golden section to show that there is a fundamental order within chaotic appearances.
